AI search visibility is how often, and how accurately, AI tools name your business when customers ask questions in your category. It is measured by asking a consistent set of customer-style questions across assistants and recording whether you appear, how you are described and who appears instead.

Visibility you cannot see in analytics
Traditional analytics shows visits. AI answers often end the journey before a visit happens. Pew Research Center followed 900 U.S. adults making 68,879 Google searches in March 2025: with an AI summary on the page, people clicked a traditional result on 8% of visits, against 15% without one, and only 1% clicked a link inside the summary. That makes AI visibility a separate measurement, not a subset of traffic.
How we measure it
We build a fixed set of questions your customers really ask, for example "best family dentist in Mesa" or "who handles commercial roof repairs in Omaha", run them across major assistants each month and record mentions, position in the answer, accuracy and competitors. The fixed set matters: changing the questions every month makes trends meaningless.
What improves it
Specific service and location pages, consistent business details across the web, attributable evidence such as named experts and real reviews, and a technically healthy site. Google says the same foundational SEO practices apply to its AI features, so visibility work and SEO reinforce each other.
Our expert view
Treat AI visibility like brand awareness with a scoreboard. It moves slowly, it compounds, and it is lost quickly when a competitor becomes the easier business to describe. Start with an AI visibility audit.

Frequently asked questions
Is AI search visibility the same as rankings?
No. You can rank well and still not be named in AI answers, and the reverse.
Which assistants matter most?
It depends on your customers. We usually track ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.
How often should it be checked?
Monthly is enough for most businesses.
Limits and honest expectations
Search engines and AI assistants change their answers over time and no one controls them. Results vary by industry, city and competition, and we do not guarantee a position, a mention or a number of leads. We report what is measurable, plainly.
