Local SEO in the AI era still starts with Google's three local factors: relevance, distance and prominence. Unitrux helps U.S. service businesses strengthen the signals behind each one, so they appear in maps, local answers and AI recommendations.

Your shop is five minutes from the customer, your reviews are strong, and yet a competitor across town shows up first. Local visibility has rules, and they matter even more now that AI tools read the same signals. This article explains them and how we apply them.
What Google says decides local ranking
Google's Business Profile help states that local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well a profile matches what someone is searching for. Distance is how far each business is from the person searching. Prominence is how well known a business is, with links, articles and review volume among the supporting signals.
What you can and cannot change
You cannot change where your customer is standing, so distance is fixed. You can change relevance and prominence. Relevance comes from a complete, accurate profile and a website that says plainly what you do and where. Prominence comes from being mentioned, linked and reviewed across the web. In our view most local businesses under-invest in prominence because it takes longer to build than a profile edit.
Why AI makes this matter more
Assistants that recommend local businesses draw on the same kinds of signals: who you are, what you do, where you do it and what others say about you. A business with a precise profile, consistent listings and a body of reviews is easier to name than one with gaps. Strong local SEO is therefore also groundwork for GEO and AIO.
Reviews as part of prominence
BrightLocal's 2025 survey of 1,026 U.S. adults found that only 4% never read online reviews. Review volume and quality shape both customer choice and prominence, so we plan reviews as part of visibility, honestly earned and never faked.
How we approach it
We audit your profile, site and listings for relevance gaps, build the pages and mentions that raise prominence, and report which searches you now appear for. We scope the work to your city and category, because a plan for Boise is not a plan for Omaha.
